What is reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a wonderful form of exercise that works your whole body on a specially designed machine known as a reformer. The machine includes a sliding carriage, springs, straps and a footbar, which together allow you to work with resistance and develop stability, strength and mobility. Unlike traditional strength training, you do not use heavy weights. Resistance comes primarily from the machine’s springs, which can both support and challenge you. Through controlled movements, you work with your own body weight combined with the resistance provided by the springs. This allows you to challenge your muscles while focusing on technique, balance and body control. Reformer Pilates particularly targets your core, but you work your whole body through exercises that strengthen your muscles, improve your posture and increase your flexibility and body awareness. You will soon notice a difference in your strength, stability and body control. The pace is controlled, with an emphasis on performing the exercises correctly rather than completing as many repetitions as possible. At Studie B in Skejby, northern Aarhus, we practise classical Reformer Pilates in small classes with a maximum of 12 participants. This gives you space to concentrate on your own training and the opportunity to receive guidance along the way. A Reformer class can be adapted to different levels, so you do not need any Pilates experience to take part. We guide you through the exercises and provide a varied workout that helps you feel strength, stability, mobility and control throughout your body. At Studie B, most of our members are women aged between 25 and 65, and we love the sense of community that has naturally grown around our training. At the same time, our door is open to everyone over the age of 15. Men are just as welcome as women, whatever their experience or level.
