What is reformer Pilates? A beginner’s guide
Reformer Pilates takes place on a machine with a sliding carriage, springs and straps. The springs provide resistance that can be adjusted up or down — making the workout suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. A class typically lasts 50 minutes and starts with a warm-up and breathing exercises. We then work through the whole body, focusing on the core, back, legs and arms, and finish with stretching. You’ll feel your muscles working — but without jumps, impact or excessive strain on your joints. For your first class, all you need to bring is close-fitting workout clothing and grip socks. Arrive 10 minutes early so we can show you the machine before we get started.
