Reformer Pilates after 40: what you need to know
After 40, the body changes. Muscle mass gradually declines, bone density decreases, and many people experience stiffness in their back, hips and neck. This makes gentle strength training more relevant than ever. Reformer Pilates provides controlled resistance throughout each movement. It strengthens muscles and connective tissue, develops balance and improves posture — without the strain that running and heavy lifting can place on the body. Many of our members in Aarhus Nord are women aged between 40 and 60. They typically attend 1–2 times a week and, after just a few weeks, experience less tension in their backs, better sleep and more energy. Start gently, be consistent and prioritize technique over resistance.
